NFT (Non-fungible Token) has recently blown up in popularity and many different art, collectables, etc are for sale; however, there is something that everyone should be aware of.
Just as a general reminder: DON’T mint copyright content such as Pokemon cards or your favourite DC or Marvel comics. This also means fan art of characters. This infringes upon their company’s IP and copyright and they may seek legal action against you. As many memes uses scenes from movie and TV shows, it is also advisable to avoid minting memes that contains other company’s IP.
Right now, it may seem like it is an easy way to make a few dollars. However, many companies such as DC are looking into taking legal action against individuals that decide to mint their IP or copyrighted content.
DC Comics, is currently looking into take legal action against those who decide to mint their comics and fan art containing DC characters and other properties.
Summary: DON’T mint any artwork that you did not create as well as artwork that contains other’s IP.
