In recent weeks, Elon Musk has moved away from Twitter bluster about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to focus on highly important issues: those related to geopolitics.
We saw Elon Musk propose a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, as well as a solution for Taiwan's reunification with China. His tweets did not go over well in America and the rest of the world, but Elon Musk still seems to consider that despite his enormous influence on social networks, he can afford anything without thinking. It's up to you to step back and limit its power.
While the price of Bitcoin has been moving sideways between $18.5K and $19.5K for several weeks now, Elon Musk has not taken the opportunity to strengthen his position in Bitcoin.
While Elon Musk had already confessed to owning some personally, he never specified the amount of his wealth in BTC. On the other hand, it was common knowledge that Tesla had purchased Bitcoin in early 2021. Contrary to Elon Musk's initial promises, Tesla has since unloaded its Bitcoin twice. The second time at a loss to recover liquidity at a critical time for the company following the blocking of supply chains in China with the health crisis.
So Elon Musk was not the Bitcoin HODLer in the hands of diamonds that he claimed to be.
Tesla had therefore disposed of 75% of its BTC holdings by Q2 2022. Despite this impressive sale, Tesla still retains 9,720 BTC, making it still a Bitcoin Whale. Tesla's Q3 2022 business report confirms that the company did not sell them. At the current price, Tesla therefore still has the equivalent of $190M in Bitcoin.
This is a testament to Elon Musk's continued confidence in the king of digital currency despite his seemingly endless love for Dogecoin.
The big question on everyone's mind today is whether Elon Musk could take advantage of the current Bear Market to buy BTC with Tesla. Elon Musk has not directly provided an answer to this question, but his attitude clearly indicates that this is not on the agenda.
Despite the current Bear Market and the opportunity represented by a BTC at less than $20K, Elon Musk prefers to focus on integrating cryptocurrencies within his companies. In March 2021, Tesla accepted the payment of its vehicles in Bitcoin and had very quickly reversed for ecological reasons, but especially to comply with the wishes of the American authorities ...
Breaking his promise to support BTC payments again with Tesla as soon as the use of renewable energy by the Bitcoin mining industry exceeds 50%, Elon Musk preferred to focus on integrating DOGE payments for Tesla cars. This has been a reality since January 2022. Since May 2022, SpaceX has also taken the step of offering the same type of support for DOGE.
This tends to show that Elon Musk now prefers to focus on the use of the DOGE as a means of payment rather than on the investment itself. However, it would be more profitable for Elon Musk and his companies to focus on supporting Bitcoin as a payment method by integrating the Lightning Network.
This would be proof that Elon Musk is getting serious again because apart from him, no one really believes that Dogecoin is the currency of the Internet that will become globally popular in the future.
