"The Coldest Game's" story takes place during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

The Cuban Missile Crisis was a confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union initiated by the American discovery of Soviet ballistic missile deployment in Cuba.

The confrontation is often considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war.

Not only does the film take place right in the center of this conflict, but it involves actor Bill Pullman’s character (Prof. Joshua Mansky)finding himself in one of the most important and world-altering chess matches that could very well mean the end of "world peace".

BTW, Prof. Mansky is a genius mathematician and Grandmaster Chess Player with a huge drinking problem.

I give the movie 5 out of 5 stars for this genre (espionage, thriller).

Why?

Because the characters and plot were so believable that I had to research whether it was fiction or not!

I recommend "The Coldest Game" to all Spy-Thriller aficionados.

Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an AA, BS and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life – while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic.

In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he performed high altitude, free-fall parachute jumps and hazardous diving ops in deep, open ocean water.
