Shine, O sun that breathes life into my soul,
Shine upon these nights that left me cold.

For I have grown so weary of the night,
My broken heart still searching for the light.

Come, tear the curtains of this endless dark,
And leave upon my ruins one bright spark.

Come, settle softly in my heart again,
For without you, even dreams feel like pain.

My heart has wandered searching for your flame,
Through silent streets where nothing stays the same.

No hand remains to reach for mine tonight,
No faithful eyes to guide me through the night.

I am so tired of this cold and distant world,
Yet somewhere in me, hope remains unfurled.

If once you cast your light upon my face,
If for one moment you would fill this place,

Then all the weight of sorrow would depart,
And ancient tears would loosen from my heart.

O sun, O gentle keeper of my soul,
Come warm the winter that has made me cold.

And if the world should leave me on my own,
If every road should lead me far from home,

I'll rise again from ashes, bruised but strong,
For in your light, I know where I belong.

Shine, O light that heals the darkest night,
Shine, O quiet remedy of my plight.

Perhaps beyond these nights that seem so long,
God has prepared a morning full of song.

So shine, O weary sun, upon my heart,
Upon the pieces darkness tore apart.

For though the night may stretch beyond our sight,
This heart still waits patiently for light.

Shine… even softly, even like a sigh,
For one small flame can teach the soul to fly.

Shine, and let this heart believe once more:
That every sunset hides a dawn in store.

And I, beneath this endless veil of night,
Still turn my eyes toward the coming light.
