Breaking the Chains: Embracing Decentralization in the Digital Age

I don't know about you, but the ongoing power grab by ruling elites is both obvious and frightening. The internet, once a free space where one could roam and explore freely, has now become an integral part of my life. From my initial passion for cars to being drawn into the endless world of porn, music, games, and movies, the internet has shaped my experiences.

Unlike most people, I don't use Facebook, Instagram, or similar platforms. I prefer an "off-grid" internet usage style, which reflects in the content I consume and create. Conspiracy theories and crypto are my main interests as I strive to understand the ever-tightening chain of restrictions on freedom and find ways to resist and fight back.

The EU is usually replicating what the US does, but in certain cases like the one I'm mentioning in this post, the EU is worse than the US. Let's dive in what I'm pointing at...

Next month, a little-known development will occur that could end up having huge repercussions for the nature of public discourse on the Internet all over the planet. August 25, 2023 is the date by which big social media platforms will have to begin fully complying with the European Union’s Digital Services Act, or DSA. The DSA, among many other things, obliges all “Very Large Online Platforms”, or VLOPs, to speedily remove illegal content, hate speech and so-called disinformation from their platforms. If not, they risk fines of up to 6% of their annual global revenue. source

In this post, I want to shed light on a concerning development happening in the European Union (EU). The European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA), which comes into effect on August 25, 2023, requires big social media platforms to swiftly remove illegal content, hate speech, and disinformation from their platforms. Failure to comply can result in fines of up to 6% of their annual global revenue.

The elites are clearly attempting to control the information that reaches our eyes, and soon they will target our financial systems, fundamentally changing the world as we know it. But what exactly constitutes "illegal content, hate speech, and disinformation"? It is whatever the ruling elites, like BlackRock's CEO Larry Fink, deem it to be. Fink himself stated the need to enforce certain behaviors.

So, how do they achieve this control? Look at the staggering amount of time people spend on their phones and the apps they use. Aside from those of us who value decentralized technology and platforms that prioritize freedom of speech, most internet users are hooked on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.

These are the very platforms that will have their users' behaviors manipulated through the implementation of such guidelines. Facebook, Twitter, and the like make massive profits through various means, and they won't strike against the regulations imposed by entities like the EU.

The Orwellian systems to control internet information are already in place, and AI will only amplify their impact. What the elites now seek, and what they will achieve, is social media compliance with their guidelines. So, what can we do about it?

Remember the person who paid 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John's pizzas? Many maximalists ridiculed him, but he proved that there is life beyond our constricting financial and social systems.

The Hive community we're a part of refused to be confined by Justin Sun's guidelines and forked the chain. Hive has become a distinct and thriving world compared to Steem. This is precisely what needs to happen with the internet. We need decentralized money, decentralized social media, decentralized sources of information, and communication apps like Signal that are beyond the reach of governments.

I firmly believe that utilizing and scaling blockchain technology is far more valuable and sustainable than mere speculation on token prices. What are your thoughts on this matter?

Thanks for your attention, Adrian
