Let's get right to the point. Before we do I would like to say that this is not FINANCIAL ADVICE. Alright, let's start.
Bitcoin is a Proof of work blockchain. Which lets you own your money. When you have money in a bank, the bank technically owns that money. The bank will keep 10% of your money and lend the other 90%. Lend means to give that money away in a loan. To add to this you lose 1.8% of your money each year if you keep it in a bank. You will lose 2% to inflation but earn back 0.2% from the bank lending your money. So why do we need bitcoin? Bitcoin lets YOU own your own money so only you control your money in a wallet only you have access to. So let's say you don't like losing money while keeping your money in the bank. Turn that money into bitcoin. Keep in mind that your money's value will fluctuate with bitcoins price. But over time bitcoin will return positive returns.
How bitcoin works. Bitcoin works in 4 steps. Step 1 you send the transaction to the blockchain. In step 2 the transaction gets mined by hundreds of bitcoin miners. The Miners get paid a block reward for confirming your transaction. Step 3 once your transaction is confirmed it gets posted to the Blockchain. Once it's on the blockchain any person including you can view the transaction. Step 4 Receive your bitcoin on the other side. Once your bitcoin transaction is confirmed. Which takes about 15 - 20 minutes. You will receive your money on the other side.
