Over the last few months, the world has come to a standstill due to the CoronaVirus outbreak, which is threating life and spreading faster than anything in recent history. It's a sensitive subject to talk about, especially when there's a lot of misinformation going around. Still, I wanted to talk about it, mainly because I think that the virus is more of a wake-up call for humanity by nature.

I'm saying so because it's been a while since the outbreak, and still there's been no viable measures to control it. I'm NOT saying that a situation like this could be handled so easily as it's done in the movies, but the fact remains that everyone is entirely clueless as to the functioning of the virus let alone starting to make a plan that can counter it.

For instance, the technological advancements that we've seen in the last few decades have been tremendous. We went from relying on huge machinery for even the simplest of tasks to tiny chips for even the most difficult of requirements. Nowadays, we're playing with electronics at the scale of a few nanometres, just a few atoms across.

Still, even with this much advancements in technology, the medical field is still lagging behind, still trying figure out biomaterials only a few micrometres in size. That's why I'm saying that Corona could very well be a wake-up call for us so that we put more effort into advancements in medical and other biological fields so as to catch up with the advancements in Silicon-based fields.

If we were to catch up, an outbreak like this wouldn't scare us much because we could be confident that our knowledge of the biomedical aspects of technology could be used to come up with a solution much faster than the pace we're currently able to with little to no knowledge in the said field.

I'm not saying that it's an easy task, but I believe that currently, our technical communities are not that involved for the betterment of biomedical fields.
