Dallas Stars - Florida Panthers
The Stars have to get points, but they've struggled against the Panthers. Bennett will miss the game, which is a bummer for Florida. He's been red hot ever since he left Calgary. As for Dallas, they can win any game. They have a high highest level. But they have a big swing. I won't call this an impossible task, but I will call it improbable success for the Stars. Florida wins!
New York Islanders - Buffalo Sabres
The Islanders have beateen the Sabres every single time they have met. And while the Sabres are making better efforts now, I don't think they have a good chance here. Houser is supposed to start in net. That would be the sixth goalie playing for Buffalo this season. Either way, New York wins!
Boston Bruins - New Jersey Devils
The Devils had a few good performances against the Flyers, after a really bad run since the trade deadline. I put that more on Philly having an awful season than anything though. The Bruins are hot right now, and should be too good for NJD. Boston wins!
Washington Capitals - New York Rangers
This is a hard one to judge. The Caps lost a couple of games to the Pens. The Pens are hot right now though. The Rangers were destroyed in a double derby against the Islanders, where they didn't even manage to score. Their playoff hope is dying out. I think the Caps should have more to play for, as they need to get back on track for the playoffs. Washington wins!
Pittsburgh Penguins - Philadephia Flyers
So, a hot team against a dreadful team. Pittsburgh wins!
Chicago Blackhawks - Carolina Hurricanes
The Hawks are out of the race now. The Canes look great. Carolina wins!
Nashville Predators - Columbus Blue Jackets
Columbus have played some close games against good opposition lately, but they struggle to score. I don't think the Preds can take anything for granted, but they have a really good chance to pull away in the playoff race here. Nashville wins!
Toronto Maple Leafs - Montreal Canadiens
Sure, the Habs should feel confident after a couple of wins, but the Leafs are another beast than the Sens or the Jets. They are brutal right now. Toronto wins!
Winnipeg Jets - Ottawa Senators
This is a hard one. The Sens are on a good trend. The Jets are on the opposite. They should be the better team though, and they were close against the Habs. And they have to turn things around. I feel I will go with the hotter team though. Ottawa wins!
Anaheim Ducks - St Louis Blues
The Blues are really good right now. They will pose a serious challenge for Vegas (or the Avs) in the playoffs! The Ducks managed to get a couple of wins against the Kings, but I don't see much hope for them here. St Louis wins!
Vegas Golden Knights - Minnesota Wild
The Wild are hard to beat at home, but Vegas are Vegas. They have been really, really goood for quite a while now. I think we will see a close game, and it could go either way, but I think it's easy to pick out the underdog, and that's Minnesota. Vegas wins!
Los Angeles Kings - Arizona Coyotes
So, what to think of the Yotes? They can win against any team, and lose against any team. The playoffs must feel remote now that the Blues play so well, and are ahead. But the Kings looked awful agains the Ducks. The outcome isn't certain, but it's easy to pick. Arizona wins!
Edmonton Oilers - Vancouver Canucks
The Nucks are running on fumes, and it will only get worse from here. The Oilers look really strong right now, and I can't see them lose here. It will probably be the McDavid show in the chase for 100 points. Edmonton wins!
Colorado Avalanche - San Jose Sharks
The Avs are starting to look better and better, after a bit of a dry spell, that didn't run for too long though. The Sharks have been in the previous games for sure, but it's ended with Avs wins. I don't expect a change, other than that the difference might be bigger this time. Colorado wins!
In summary, my winners are:
Florida Panthers
New York Islanders
Boston Bruins
Washington Capitals
Pittsburgh Penguins
Carolina Hurricanes
Nashville Predators
Toronto Maple Leafs
Ottawa Senators
St Louis Blues
Vegas Golden Knights
Arizona Coyotes
Edmonton Oilers
Colorado Avalanche
