Byju Raveendran is an Indian Billionaire and the founder CEO of the education technology company Byju's Classes. The test prep company which was launched in 2007 now has a presence over multiple countries. The company with the tagline "fall in love with learning" has now become giant teaching children from classes 6-12 primarily maths and science principles along with test preparations for multiple entrance examinations.
Born in 1980, in Azhikode, Kerala in a typical Kerala family, to teacher parents Raveendran and Shobhanavalli. He met his spouse Divya Gokulnath when he used to teach in classrooms.He attempted the Common Admission Test with his friends, He scored a very high percentile, seeing which his friends suggested him to start coaching classes. He resigned from his job and pursued the idea. He started teaching MBA aspirants on the terrace of a close friend's house. The rest of his journey is something very motivating to anyone who wants to be an entrepreneur.
When the size of his students was rising up he launched an educational technology firm Think and Learn Private Ltd, popularly known as Byju with the tag line - fall in love with learning. His initial investment was around 2 lakhs. He included technology in teaching back in 2009, when he started an online video-based learning program for cat aspirants.
The turning point was in 2015 when he launched BYju's app, The product was a result of 4 years of his hard work. Now students can access the educational material of Byju's within the comfort of their houses using a smartphone.
Along with services for students of classes 4-12, the app also featured coachings for major competitive examinations like NEET, CAT, JEE, etc.
He tried to make the system effective and interesting, the idea was well received and the app had a fairly high number of downloads, and millions of users in a short span. It is now the largest educational company in India.
The growth of his pet project was well studied by investors and venture capitalists who flowed money, which made the expansion of Byju's more rapid. The rapid expansion of Byju's increased the valuation of the educational technology giant along with his net worth.
As of now, Byju's app is the best of its kind. It utilizes the service of the best teachers in the country mixed with the best technology, quality animations, and simulations.
