So, what’s all this about then? We decided to throw together a bit of a hiking blog because, well, that’s about all we get up to when we’re not trapped to the confines of our van. We’re a couple of exercise physiologists who, with our 2 young girls, are travelling Australia, indefinitely, having sold our family home. At time of putting this out there, our eldest is just over 2 years of age, and the little one is 5 months—our plan is to travel and explore for as long as we can before we need to start thinking about school.
Our choice of a travelling lifestyle is one of a change of pace, not a long-term holiday. As such, we don’t spend money on big ticket experiences, we rarely eat out, and, as I’ve said in other posts, we don’t sit around the camp fire sinking tinnies (if you’re not Australian, that is to say, we don’t drink alcohol—well, Alicia doesn’t drink so, that pretty much means I don’t drink. Often). What that does mean, though, is that there’s little else to do, worth doing, other than hikes, right?
We’ve always loved a good bushwalk, hike, whatever your preference for nomenclature, but when you add kids to the mix, it necessitates a little bit more forethought and planning. And so, whilst Alicia is busy hosting her podcast (Cuppa with a Doula – released on Apple podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and Deezer, by the way!!!), I’m (that’s me, Jason) giving blogging a crack. Anyway, we’ll see how long this will last. In the meantime, if you’re a family that likes to hike, maybe follow along. I’m always up for hearing tips and experiences.
If you’re into Instagram, it would be great if you gave us a follow.
