Save a Little Candle For Me...

By Hope Huggs | High Poetess Hope | 6 Jul 2019

Save a little candle for me

1000 flames burn within
Shining through the din
Inside my head
Where the lies spread

The errant thoughts
That tie me in knots
The ones I have to fight
Every day and night

Not based on fact
But stacked
And ingrained
Keeping me chained

Until the candles cry
Wax becomes my why
The armour to fight
From dark to light

Realise that I am me
And only I hold the key
To my destiny
And can leave the doubts at sea

But somedays the light is too dim
Strength little more than a whim
These are the days on bended knee
I ask "Save a little candle for me."
