Understanding Bitcoin can be challenging. It's unlike any other currency that came before it, and is built on a foundation of complex principles in finance, economics, cryptography, and philosophy. All that said though, you don't need to be an expert to benefit from using Bitcoin.

You also don't have to be an expert to see through poorly thought out FUD. A recent article in the Wall Street Journal made the claim that Bitcoin is controlled by a handful of developers, which is simply not true. Bitcoin is a decentralized network, and anyone can participate in its development. The Bitcoin Core developers, as they're called, are just a group of volunteers who maintain the most popular implementation of the Bitcoin software (i.e., "Bitcoin Core"). However, they don't control Bitcoin any more than you and I do - they can only propose changes to the software, and those changes must be accepted by the rest of us in order to be implemented.

That high level of decentralization is one of Bitcoin's most important features. It makes Bitcoin censorship-resistant and immune to attack from any single entity. No wonder Bitcoin continues to thrive nearly a decade and a half after its creation, and in the face of tens of thousands of so-called *challengers* throughout the "Crypto" sphere. 

Long story short, Bitcoin is a unique and innovative technology and I believe it will change the way we think about money. So don't get sidetracked by misguided FUD along the way, no matter how credible the source may seem.
