Stop and think: What would be the benefits for our planet

if we had cars that moved without the use of wheels?

Would you like to go around floating on a skateboard without wheels?

Oscar-winning filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis the Back to the Future Trilogy

produced by Universal City Studios in 1985 brought in its second part the teenager Marty McFly

played by actor Michael J. Fox trying to escape a mess he got himself into.

What was fiction may soon become real as in some developed countries

railway networks already operate with systems that use magnetic levitation.

Transrapid is a high-speed monorail train developed by Germany that uses magnetic levitation.

This is possible thanks to electromagnets, parts that generate a magnetic field from an electric current

installed both on the vehicle and on the rails.

The maglevs (short for “magnetic levitation”) offer the advantage of lower energy consumption,

lower noise and less maintenance.

Using basically the same technology these young people present in this shed

a track or magnetized track with levitation magnets pointing upwards

and a skateboard prototype with magnets pointing downwards.

The magnetic field generated between the two well-calibrated forces

does not allow the skateboard to touch the tracks.

Yuchen Cai was announced as the winner of a competition sponsored by Renault

for presenting a vehicle with intelligent design that uses Maglev technology

familiar in high-speed rail transport in japan.

When observing this concept of futuristic vehicle, the absence of wheels is noticed.

This is incredible and can contribute to the health of the planet we live on.

The absence of wheels in vehicles will decrease the amount of use of raw materials

like the latex taken from the rubber tree,

synthetic rubber produced from oil,

steel and other metal alloys.

Perhaps, it will no longer be necessary to build highways, thus

the use of concrete and asphalt blanket can be discontinued and even replaced.
