In my previous post I talked about my goals for this month. I thought I'd share some of the tools I've been using and plan on using to help me along the way, so here we go.
1. Darebee
Darebee is a website that I randomly found many years ago and never paid much attention to. Earlier this year, when thinking about my health and how I'd like to exercise more but couldn't use a regular gym, I remembered this website. I started looking around and soon realized that it's completely amazing. There are a ton of resources there like routines, diets, forums, articles, videos... And for all kinds of levels and commitments too. The first time I ever tried to do some kind of exercise all by myself I used a routine I found on this website and it worked so well as it was easy to do and follow even though my fitness level was exactly 0. I'm currently using it for my daily routine and some learning and I plan to keep using it.
As a pro, I'll also tell you that there are absolutely no ads or paywalls on this site, as they rely solely on donations.
2. WeWard
WeWard is a step tracker for mobile devices that last month expanded to the US market. I like it because it doesn't track your location -it just gets information from your own devices step tracker- which means it will also count if you are using a treadmill or a stationary bike. Also, it only requires the effort of logging in at the end of your day and validating your steps. It can also provide a little -quite little- bit of extra income if you want: you'll get "wards" in exchange for your activity, which you can spend on the app, donate or withdraw as legal currency.
Even though the app is simple and doesn't seem to provide many extra advantages in comparison to similar apps I really like privacy factor and how it keeps me motivated to keep trying by adding different challenges every month.
3. Coach Viva
Coach Viva is a YouTube channel I discovered quite recently. At first I have my doubts as video titles seemed kind of clickbaity but after watching a couple of her videos I really liked her emphasis on building healthy habits instead of just trying to lose weight and a realistic approach to the whole fitness topic in general. As I said, I haven't investigated the channel a lot but I'm planning on doing it sooner rather than later as it seems a good learning tool.
And that's it, at least for the time being; three tools that I think will help me achieve my goals. If you know or use other tools I'd love to hear them!
P.S.: I do not own, take part or am affiliated to the tools presented above. I find them useful and write about them in hope that they can be useful to some of you too. The WeWard app does have an affiliation program in which a 'sponsor' can earn a one time reward when somebody using their code registers and gains a certain amount of wards. If you're interested in giving it a try and would like to earn an extra 150 wards my invitation code is NAMA-VPqxt . Please note that this code must be submitted during the first 48 hours of the app.
