Nursery for vegetables

Surabaya, is identical with hot weather and the heat. This impression was told by people who ever came this city, but do not get wrong because there are many cool places that we can visited at Surabaya, one of this place is Taman Mini Agrowisata Surabaya (Surabaya’s Mini Agrotourism Park).

This park is laid on Pagesangan II Street exacly at back of Surabaya’s Regional Food Security and Agricultural Crop Office. This park laid at area more or less 8000 square meter and have many varieties of horticulture plants, such as fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants, unfortunately we can not find flowers (floriculture) in this park..

When Entering this park, we will find vines plant above entrance alley and fish ponds along right and side this alley. On the right alley there is a pond consisted with doctor fishes, we can put and soak our feet at this pond and enjoying “cleaning” activity by this kind of doctor fish.

After passing through this entrance, on the right side we will be able to see the nursery of medicinal plants. Here there are so many medicinal plant seeds that are widely known as Binahong (Anredera cordifolia), even rare medicinal plants can be found here, for example Daun Jarum Tujuh Bintang (Pereskia sacharosawhich) is known to be used for cancer treatment, leaves we can eat it right away and it feels like eating vegetables but it doesn't taste bitter.

While to the left of the entrance there is a special place for fruit trees which consists of various kinds. The plants are planted in large pots arranged in a neat line complete with label names of the plants.

Not to forget, there are also plant nurseries in this park for kitchen purposes such as chili, eggplant, basil and so on, but this location is on the right side of the parking lot the Surabaya’s Security Food and Agriculture Office. There is an interesting thing, that the citizens of Surabaya can get the seeds contained in this park for free in a certain amount, by provided that they should submit an application and include the Identity Card to the Surabaya’s Security Food and Agriculture Office.(hpx)
