Yes, your paper money is as good as crypto, both are shit and you should never tie your emotions to it in whatever form it comes to you or  goes away.
Your grandpa's first earned 1 dollar coin? Yeah, you value that because of grandpa, you would never spend that dollar, and even if, the clerk at the store would not accept it as being worth more than 1 USD, which is less every year BTW, about 7-10% less, because NEVER trust ANY official inflation stat.

In fact I might just end by reiterating that you should just never trust anyone, even yourself. Not because people are bad or out there to get you. No, they are just human and prone to error and in the end them being malicious or not, altruistic or egotistic, rational or irrational makes no difference. You are on your own and that's only bad news if you let it become bad news.
