Ever heard of "WORKATION"? You will be hearing it a lot in near future.
In the world of utter chaos, job insecurity and work from home culture, the young workforce around the world is looking for different options. With the corporate world and governments adopting "work from home" model, a new unique and peculiar trend is emerging among the millennials who form the bulk of modern day workforce.

The trend is of moving away from the cities into remote places such as hills and working from homestays. This Trend serves many purposes such as:
1. Cost cutting: The main objective for moving away from cities is to provide cheap accommodation.
2. Freedom: Remote working is here to stay for the near future and therefore it provides a great opportunity to combine work with your much desired holiday destinations.
3. Pursuing Freelancing: It also provides an opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and to try out new options thus creating a possibility to convert your passion into your profession.
4. Healthy living: Away from the pollution and chaos the pleasant weather the open landscapes and green environment provides a welcome change. Combined with homegrown organic food this is the perfect excuse to change your lifestyle.

Things that Homestays need to provide:
1. Awesome Internet: People who can work from anywhere need a fast and reliable internet connection. This has to be the priority.
2. Seperate Accomodation: Providing a seperate unit that has its own seperate entrance with combined kitchen and washroom is much desired.
3. Cleanliness: The post pandemic world is obsessed with cleanliness and the homestays need to adhere to these requirements by the guests.
4. Organic food: Homestays need to provide homegrown organic food if possible, this will be a major selling point for them.
Homestays too are adapting and switching from daily tarriff to monthly rentals. For e.g. a lot of home stays are switching from $100 daily to $550 monthly offerings (may differ for different countries).
According to Anila Paul, Director, Marketing. Porcupine Resorts. They only had 3 bookings in first week after the lock down and now after adopting the workation model they get on an average 200 calls everyday.
Working from homestays and remote places is not new for freelancers, writers and artists but it surely is a very new experience for the majority of tech savvy young professionals.
CONCLUSION: With hospitality industry struggling with pandemic, Workation also provides homestays in remote places to earn revenues and keep the lights on. This might be the silver lining that they desperately need.
