HOTELS Post Pandemic : Things YOU Should Absolutely Know

R Kelly's song "I believe I can fly"  suits the present day situation perfectly as we all wish we could fly because no one wants to put foot in an aircraft. International travel is at a stand still but that doesn't mean hotels within the country will not reopen and flourish again.

In Helen Keller's words "life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all."

Domestic tourism is going to be the white knight. The hotels situated in remote settings with ample amount of wilderness and fresh air are going to flourish as compared to the downtown hotels (situated in the heart of a city).

1. Don't expect large discounts.

Those expecting heavy discounts might be disappointed as hotels are anyhow struggling to even cover the operational costs. But expect lot of value added services included in your room tariffs. e.g. pick and drops, gym, spa, excursion trips, Wi-Fi, special event passes etc.

2. Epic Cleanliness.

Best Western's CEO David Kong sums it up perfectly "Most travellers will be hyper conscious of cleanliness". Hilton just partnered with guess who? .. lysol and Mayo clinic. That's a well thought out long term plan. Entire cleanliness process will be on full display so be careful not to trip over those annoying wet floor signs.

3. Compromise with your Luxury.

The days of living like a king in a hotel are most probably over. Minimalism is going to be the new normal going forward so as to reduce the spread of infections. Travellers themselves will avoid asking for extra pillows, robes and hotels will start cutting down on unnecessary accessories in the room such as extra hangers and lavish decorations in the room in restaurants and in the lobby.

4 Huge Technological Upgrade.

We all expected technology to take over but not so soon and surely not under these circumstances. Forget about the days when you were welcomed by smiling faces, warm handshakes and even a cookie. Now it's all about contactless ways.

a) Thermal cameras are going to be installed so as to monitor the temperature without the need to stopping anyone. Anyone with temperature over 100°F or 37.77°C will not be allowed to enter the property.

b) Contact less check in is going to be hugely popular Expect robots to automatically deliver keys when you arrive. The entire check in process will be done long before you even enter the premises.

c) Digital keys will even eliminate the need for any contact even with a robot. Guess we skipped our cyberpunk fantasies. Opening door with your phone and controlling the lights, air conditioner and television from your phone will not be a Novelty anymore but a necessity.

So are you ready for your post pandemic adventures..

Hope this article helps you in preparing for your next Epic adventure.
