"Crypto is crashing" screams the click-bait headlines!  All the talking heads are chattering ... the air is filled with a cacophony of voices.  All screaming at you ... all telling you what you should do.  Tik Tok dazzles with flashy videos and siren calls - do you listen? I will not cover or rehash those headlines. Instead, I need to talk about a more important principle behind all the shouting and panic.  That is Beware of What you Listen to.  Not, what are you buying ... but what are you "buying into"?  There are too many uninformed voices in the crypto space.  Let me give you a very specific example that demonstrates the point well.

Last week, I read a fortune.com online article about "safe moon".  The article described safemoon as "another digital currency similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum, with a couple of key differences."  To compare safemoon, which has little to no technical merit, with the legitimate technical achievements of both Bitcoin (PoW, digital scarcity) and Ethereum (blockchain programming, NFTs) is an insult to those efforts.  Why is this important?  Because now is the time to really watch who you are listening to in this space: the crypto-universe (like many "gold rushes" before it) attracts every type of vulture, wolf, snake, and weasel.  And those are the intentionally malicious folks.  People like the fortune.com journalist do not belong in that category but they belong to the technically unaware pundits that try to be relevant and thereby spread false information, vague information, and uninformed opinions.

Crypto-currencies, as should be implicitly clear by their name, are a technology.  Thus, you must either understand the technology underpinning this space or, at least, listen to those who do understand the technology.  That is the only way to safely navigate the space and chart a path into which technologies will truly revolutionize the future!  Shut out the shouting voices, the hype and the siren-calls!  Instead, let technical excellence be your guide to this technology.  That is what will last beyond the frenzy!  Safe travels... and don't talk to strangers.
