Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol of Thailand has died at the age of 47 after spending more than three years in a coma following a sudden medical emergency in late 2022.

Her health crisis began when she suddenly collapsed during a routine royal activity involving dog training. Medical reports at the time indicated a severe cardiac arrhythmia, reportedly linked to a bacterial infection that caused rapid complications.

She was immediately transferred to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok, where she remained under intensive medical care for years. Despite continuous treatment and life-support measures, she never regained full consciousness.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha was widely regarded as one of the most educated members of the Thai royal family. She also worked closely with the United Nations, focusing on justice reform and programs aimed at improving conditions for women in correctional systems.

Her long absence from public life had already made her a symbolic figure in discussions about Thailand’s royal future, as analysts often considered her one of the potential key figures in the monarchy’s next generation.
