–My Story as a Nigerian Pioneer.
Hey everyone, my name is [ Godspeed], and I’m writing this from Port Harcourt, Nigeria. I’ve been a Pi Pioneer since early 2022 – one of those guys who started mining on a simple Android phone while hustling between PH and Lagos. Back then, a lot of people called it “just another app.” But I saw something different: a crypto project built for everyday people like us in Africa, where mobile data is expensive, banks are slow, and the dream of financial freedom feels far away.

When I first saw this image, it gave me chills. Because guess what? The Pi Network community just dropped the exact same news a few days ago: **Subscriptions are now LIVE on Pi Testnet** – the network’s very first smart contract feature!
I’ve been following the updates closely on X (Twitter). Pioneers and official channels are buzzing: recurring payments for e-commerce, streaming services like Netflix-style platforms, gaming tools, online utilities – everything the image shows is happening right now on testnet. One post I read yesterday said it straight: “Subscriptions are now live on Pi Testnet as the network’s first smart contract feature, powering real recurring utility use cases like e-commerce and streaming.” Another Pioneer asked the community: “Which services would you pay for with Pi? Streaming? Gaming tools? Recurring shopping?” The replies were fire.
For me, this hits different. I’ve mined over 15,000 Pi (still waiting on full migration, but my KYC is done). I’ve watched the Open Mainnet go live in February 2025. I’ve seen protocol upgrades roll out – Protocol 20, 21, and now the V22 deadline hitting this month. Over 18 million verified users, more than a million validators, and millions of identity checks. The network is growing fast, and it’s not just hype. It’s real infrastructure.
What makes me most excited? Pi was built mobile-first, exactly for people in places like Nigeria. No need for expensive GPUs or crazy electricity bills. Just tap your phone once a day. And now, with subscriptions and smart contracts coming, I can actually picture myself paying for my favourite streaming service or buying tools for my small side business using Pi – no conversion stress, no high fees, no middlemen.
This artwork isn’t just pretty art. It’s the future we’ve been waiting for. From my small room in PH, I can see a world where a Nigerian Pioneer pays for Spotify or Amazon subscriptions with the same Pi that a guy in Tokyo or New York is using. Borderless. Simple. Useful.
I’ve had my doubts along the way – like every Pioneer. The long wait for mainnet, the price swings after listing, the KYC delays. But moments like this remind me why I stayed. Pi isn’t trying to be another Bitcoin or Ethereum copy. It’s trying to be the people’s crypto – the one that actually gets used in daily life.
