For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.

Just a little warning, it got really uncomfortable dancie last week, and then I mean uncomfortable as tripping very far away from my comfort zone. So tonight I stay a little closer to home and show you the beauty in what is often considered the dark side of music.

Tom Barry Music - Lighthouse

Now that you have listened to it I can tell you the reason why he asked, Tom is his Brother in law, and WOW give me BIL like that, it would make family gatherings lots more fun.

The lighthouse family would have been a nice bridge, but well they are a bit too plain for my liking so let´s just stick to that lighthouse theme.

Not sure if you recognized the accent? If you can read this you might know where this guy comes from "Elvis Blue, is 'n sanger en liedjieskrywe." I like this guy especially when he started singing in Afrikaans. Which sounds like a very pretty variant of Dutch....which it kinda is.

It´s been a while since I shared a good cover with you Dear Reader, and well I played these guys and girl before. But those three acoustic guitars, GD why do I end up thinking that they sound better than the three original acoustic guitars?

It´s probably the audio quality, but I do miss the Axl whistle- Still, these guys truly are "sitting here on the stairs."

It sounds like a wonderful dessert, but this elaborate musical dinner has not come to its final course yet. Actually, we just got started, and I just can´t get enough. This Ren guy was introduced to me by my boy, but I think by now I know more Ren songs than he does. But this one is definitely something I got to share.

Ren Ft. Bibi - Crutch

That song sounded as its inspiration....it sounds like a nervous breakdown, like a perfect musical version of an anxiety attack during a period of depression.

Now I personally am not a fan of women that cut their hair, but this goes above taste. This is about freedom. No Human is totally free, but many humans are freer than others. From a song about depression to a song against oppression.

It´s probably me, but it seems like the world is spinning out of control. And we just started, will there be a day.....a day we wake up in a Brave New World without, or at least less greedy?

Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.

Who the fluff am I?

Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years...Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.
