In the last few months I have been following several "freemints" NFT projects. Freemints are projects where you can get free NFTs. Being among the lucky ones is not always easy since you have to follow the Twitter and Discord channels a lot.
At first I was enthusiastic about being able to get NFT almost for free but later I realized that I have often wasted the gas.
Currently the most popular projects are offered on three blockchains: Ethereum, Solana and Polygon.
I immediately exclude Polygon as they are not in the least taken into consideration by the community, despite some decent level projects. Those based on Ethereum and Solana remain.
For ETH, the entry barrier is represented precisely by the "gas fee" which does not make them exactly free, for example I paid $ 9 in commission for a Moonbats. This makes the risk of project failure not negligible and I have a fairly large "graveyard" on OpenSea. To date on 5 projects in which I participated, I have obtained a slight capital gain on only 2.
For SOL, the commissions are certainly much lower, around 0.01 for mint but often the projects have a lower quality level. To this we add that the projects done really well like "Nikaraka", are abandoned by the developers who are satisfied with the first economic return.
Initially they were an interesting phenomenon but now we need to monitor the projects well, understand if there is really a roadmap behind them and if they will actually be followed by the developers also because it is not always easy to be able to finish in the WhiteList necessary to obtain the NFTs for free.
