Fear and Greed thermostat

It has been a long week that has offered many of the data expected by the markets. We have seen OPEC's announcement to increase its oil production if Russia reduces supply (an announcement that did not take long to be made and boosts confidence in the markets), there is also good news coming from China, where activity has restarted and several supply chains have been reestablished, and also the news on employment data in the US shows an improvement compared to forecasts.

Despite the above news, the markets are in a stage of price correction which, added to the very delicate macroeconomic circumstances, means that we are still looking for a definitive floor before resuming a bullish stage. With large falls this year, there are many who believe that we have already reached the bottom and the truth is that you can see shares of very solid projects at incredible prices (if they had been offered to you six months ago you would not have hesitated to buy). But on the contrary there are investors who are still waiting for a more severe correction before the turnaround.

In the crypto world the news are not encouraging as we have learned that Gemini (the exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins), has reduced its workforce by 10%, also 2TM (parent company of Bitcoin Market in Brazil) has laid off between 80 and 90 employees just as they had previously reduced staff at Buenbit and Bitso. All of them as a prevention of the expected "crypto winter". Also Tesla, holder of a large Bitcoin fund and a strong power of influence and in the crypto community, has taken the decision to reduce staff, a decision that personally does not surprise me since in recent interviews Elon Musk has stated that he expects the US economic decline to last between twelve and eighteen months.

You can clearly see from the market signals that more stability is needed to restore confidence. Until then gold should be a “safe” haven and Bitcoin probably is too as it has performed even better than gold in previous times of instability.
