Hey, I'm here again! Yes, the crazy dude who writes stuff on the internet!
Pizza Day? Great!
Bitcoin pizza day? Even better!
I'm late, yesterday was May 22nd and on that same day, 12 years ago, for the first time in history a payment was made with Bitcoin.
I know, you know the story and it's no big deal.... Hit the bottom of the screen and don't forget to leave my tip on your way out!
For you, who are just starting to get informed, I'm still telling you the Bitcoin story!
On the day in question there was one person, Lazlo Hanyecz, who posted the following message on a forum:
"I will pay 10,000 BTC for a couple of pizzas, maybe 2 large to have something for the next day. I like to have pizza left over. You can bring it to my house or order it for me from a delivery place, what I'm looking for is food delivery in exchange for Bitcoin. I like onions, peppers, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, pepperoni, standard stuff, no fish toppings or anything like that. I also like cheese pizzas, which can be cheaper to prepare or purchase...".
As it turns out, he received two pizzas valued at approximately $41 from Papa John's!
From that moment on, the Bitcoin story changed many people's lives and has continued to grow to this day.
Central banks making their digital currencies, some countries decide to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, other countries are regulating cryptocurrencies or the accumulation of large companies such as Microestrategy and Tesla are news that increasingly let us see more clearly the promising future that awaits it. Yes, Bitcoin is a risky asset and everything can change. There are many voices saying that it is a bubble and that it will collapse. Everyone can have their opinion but the facts are that Microstrategy, Tesla and Meta, among others, are accumulating large amounts of Bitcoin.
In short, thanks to these two pizzas today we can dream of this new world that is on the horizon and try to change the established rules.
10,000 Bitcoin for a few pizzas today is a barbarity, but at that time there were people who gave away Bitcoin (which had no value whatsoever) as a reward for a response in a forum. Lazlo Hanyecz at least received a couple of pizzas and went down in history.
