First things first, it's Kyiv, not Kiev. 

For starters, have you watched A$AP Rocky - Tailor Swif music video? It was filmed in Kyiv 2021, before the war, and released to public few weeks ago.(the link is in the resources).

And just like general knowledge of Ukraine in western part of the world, it reflects a strong sentiment of Russia. I can´t even find the words to describe it - it´s just a feeling, that Ukraine is not something unique, but rather a smaller, less developed part of Russia, and it shows that this video was done in 2021, not in 2022 and forward. Not a shade to ASAP, he is one of my favourite rappers, right below Kendrick(they not like us), but just a feeling. A feeling that this chain of articles is determined to change.

So, let´s start with some general facts.

Kyiv is a big city, it has a population of roughly 3 million people, and 10 regions:

It is ranked at number 7 by population in Europe (pre-war) and it's history starts in 6th century.

The main nationalities are Ukranian(80%), Russian (10%), Jew(5%).

I want to have a quick guide thorugh Kyiv history, some places to visit for having fun, food, concerts etc. But that will come in part two, so stay tuned. Today, I will focus on one of my favourite regions of it - Obolon District.

You've problaly heard of one guy named Vitali Klitschko. He is a former boxing legend, current mayor of Kyiv, a meme-generator, and many more things.

Here is the mayor that founded two of main sightseeing places in Obolon, the "Natalka Square" and new bridge:

This are the two main things you want to do while being in Obolon - wonder in the park, go through the bridge to the island and enjoy beatiful views. But if you are interested in going shopping, the Dream Towns got you covered:

This shopping center is combained of two buildings, each spaming across three metro stations and each having 0.5 km in length. At the time of construction it was the largest shopping center of Ukraine and East Europe!

Well, I better stop here, cause the article is becoming too long, I will write more about Obolon and other regions of Kyiv, as well as it´s history and attractions in future articles.
