Pokemon and Vincent Van Gogh
Pokemon is a phenomenon born in late 90's, that has enchanted millions of people and is making fall in love even now.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary, the Amsterdam Museum opened from 9/28/23 to 1/7/24 an exhibition where Pokemon invade Van Gogh's paintings. You can find a Pikachu with a straw hat like in the artist's self-portrait, Sunflora posing with sunflowers or Munchlax and Snorlax sleeping in "The Bedroom".
At the main entrance, the museum gives you a flyer that will takes you to discover Vincent Van Gogh's paintings. During the activity, visitors can find stories about paintings that inspired the Pokemon Adventure. At the end, by filling out the flyer, you can have in exchange a promotional card Pokemon x Vincent Van Gogh. Flyer is available in English or Dutch.
In the fisrt days this operation instead of bringing child and people, has brought scalpers, that taken advantage and took all the limited edition merchandise and resold online at incredible prices. (You can find videos online)
The museum gift shop has been targeted by a crowd that bought all the stuff (postcards, t-shirts, bags, notebooks, ...). You can easily find them on Ebay. This scalping operation ended the internet site supplies both the Museum and the Pokemon Company. An online restock is hard and there's the risk this fact could be repeated.
In my opinion, it was a good idea but the people nowadays is so rude. However, if anyone wants a card, you can buy it for only 150 (at least). LOL.
