Ahh good old Hex is in the headlines again. Last year I almost wrote a piece on their Nascar debacle which seriously gave me some good laughs. It was a publicity stunt of I think the Hex community or influencers or something, who decided to pool half a million Dollars together to fund a car and driver with the Hex colors to run at the qualifiers:
Which then finished last😂
Good times were had by all and it was for the most part pretty harmless. But this latest Uniswap issue is worrisome to say the least. I don't deal with Hex myself, but people have apparently been seeing this when they try to interact with the token:
Some were quick to point out you can actually still trade Hex via Uniswap if you just don't use it's frontend but that is not the point. At least not the point I'm trying to make because I'm not applauding Uniswap nor am I defending Hex. I'm calling out the so called definition of 'decentralized'. Yes Hex is trash, but should a so called 'decentralized application' on Etheruem be doing this? And why are they doing this now? Hex has been around for quite some time have they not? The timing is just too suspicious: "Uniswap Delists HEX Token After SEC Deems It An Unregistered Security.”
And this is not the first time something like this has happened, when the sanctions against Tornado Cash were announced MetaMask and Uniswap were among the first to block addresses. So I guess we can now put that 'maybe just a coincidence' aside and start calling "decentralized" apps based in the United States "Crypto FedApps"; Federal Applications. No this is not what most of us signed up for and we can see the writing on the wall from light years away.
For DEXes to truly thrive, we need there to be another "Satoshi" who's generous and capable enough to build a transparent, solid app and then disappear, leaving future developments/decisions onto the community. Not someone who steps into the public or worse is taking CEO roles and sitting in his multi-million Dollar office within reach of the authorities. But that is not the Hexicans (or Hexians or whatever) their focus. No these people are cruising in their Hex Nascar and shifted from the fourth gear of delusional insanity onto the fifth gear:
