PYUSD, Crypto hub and now this. Paypal is doing some catching up it seems these past few weeks for their decade long absence in the crypto world, which isn't necessarily a good thing.
I really like that last sentence. After passport pics, face scans, utility bills, finger prints, dna samples and cavity searches Paypal now no longer needs any additional verification from you, you are "free" to buy those five coins they offer. What's up with Ledger's CEO btw? "We’re combining the uncompromising security of Ledger with PayPal's leadership in protected payments technology to help facilitate a seamless platform for user crypto transactions." Oh really, what are you going to do? Pay for the higher additional fees yourself so that Paypal/Ledger users can get priority from miners?
I'm not even half joking that I was searching for a new hardware wallet when I found this, and even though Ledger already sank way down in my ranking after that whole 'export recovery phrase' debacle, I am starting to have serious doubts about their future intentions. I know it's not as if the Ledger Live KYC or Paypal option will make the storing or sending functions on the Nano wallet work any less better, but experience has thought me that A) these negative developments seldom stop after one or two steps and B) in many ways it's the principle that counts. And yes I know this development is overall good for Bitcoin, but what was so bad about US citizens buying their Bitcoin on already proven and trustworthy exchanges that have been around for several years? The fact that authorities couldn't unconditionally control it that's what. The grand total of five coins may be expanded some day, but I can guarantee you Tornado Cash or Monero won't make the cut. And both of them are conveniently absent from Coinbase and Binance US as well. Hmmm, must be some weird unexplainable coincidence huh?🤔
