"Crypto technologies are a major innovation engine...Biden’s proposed 30% tax on cryptocurrency mining is a bad idea. Yes, energy use is a concern (though somewhat overstated), but bitcoin mining uses about the same as video games and no one is calling for a ban on those....Some advocate tight control of cryptocurrencies to prevent their use by criminals. But it isn’t just criminals who want privacy. So do dissidents and ordinary citizens. Governments harass their enemies and crush dissent by controlling bank accounts and payment platforms. Until we restore trust in government (a distant prospect) we need cash and crypto to ensure freedom."
I remember this quote from a movie about when J.F. Kennedy was running for president back in the day which said"every now and then someone comes along who doesn't seem like such a liar."
So based on the knowledge and facts this Kennedy just put out there, is it save to say we have again found such a person? I don't know to be honest, but he has sure been drawing drawing a lot of positive attention to himself the past weeks and convinced many that he is.
The mining tax plans are no walk in the park either, starting out with 10% and gradually increasing over the next three years till it's at 30%. But aside from his criticism and all those who agreed, there was also another type of supporter that was widely present and making noise📢, I believe you call them "maxis":
There's a fitting Einstein quote for every scenario: "Stay away from negative people, they have a problem for every solution." Not that Bitcoin maxis are all negative, but seriously, from all that he said your focus is on the fact he also said "cryptocurrencies" along with Bitcoin? This is one of the reasons they say what they say btw, because many other cryptos are centralized and pre-mined beyond use, they stack them all together and disadvantage the few who like Bitcoin are also mined fairly and decentralized.
Basically saying, they rightfully don't want Bitcoin associated with 97% of the junk cryptos that are out there which are often started by dubious people, but then just casually throw the legitimate 3% onto the 97% garbage pile. How's that fair?🤔
