OK at first I was skeptical, you have to be in today's world. But little by little I started to see small yet important improvements Elon made to Twitter.
It started by labeling other media from the self-proclaimed truth nations as 'state affiliated' as well. After which some of them couldn't handle it anymore and decided to rage-quit the platform like all mature people do. Others reached out to Musk and asked for the state affiliated label to be removed from their account. They didn't speak up whatsoever mind you when Joke Dorsey started putting those labels on only Chinese, Russian, Syrian, Venezuelan or Iranian media. Reminds me of a little story called ''first they came''.
So soon after this Twitter decided to remove all state affiliated labels from all media accounts. Also a fair answer, but not according to those who want to use the platform to tell only their side of the story.
'Hey Twitter, why not label everyone I don't agree with as state propaganda?'
'We don't have propaganda, we have the divine truth.'
It wasn't long after that 'community notes' were introduced. An idea which ETH mans Vitalik also seemed to like because of its characteristics relating to crypto. "what interests me most about Community Notes is how, despite not being a "crypto project", it might be the closest thing to an instantiation of "crypto values" that we have seen in the mainstream world....It's not perfect, but it's surprisingly close to satisfying the ideal of credible neutrality, all while being impressively useful, even under contentious conditions, at the same time."
But that would mean of course that discredited media would either have to step their game up, or:
Not only did they not shape up, they actually managed to sink even lower and are shamelessly trying that same propaganda tactic in the recent Israel-Palestine issue. Truly revolting and nauseating people. Imagine being the poor sap who worked so hard to get a university degree, only to then degrade yourself to this level by typing up this hypocritical junk. But fear not because community notes to the rescue!
Now after reading their bias junk, the very next thing you'll read is the added context. Before this all people had was scrolling for like ten minutes to find comments which added value to the post:
So overall it's a W so far,🙂 which is exactly why it will not last.😒 Yes things are already changing on the background for X and the strategy to do so is targeting its add income. To put it simply, when Musk said the advertisers will leave a platform when intimidated or put before an ultimatum, that's someone trying to attack Twitter/X's money base. Now without it you can still run the platform if people still trust and use it, but will do so with considerably less profit or even with losses. Some claim this is why they are now planning to make X a paid service without advertisers.
So to be continued I guess but overall, it is indeed a more fair platform making people on both sides equally happy and unhappy as stated one year ago.
