If you know anything about Whatsapp you'd know that's not a good thing. But let's get one thing clear from the get-go, this is not meant to open the door to weird lesser advanced Eth alternatives like BSC or Solana, which in my opinion are 99% less likely to succeed or even survive the crypto judgement day. No this is meant to inform you about something more important:
Ethereum has come a long way. From the 51% attack that split the team into Ethereum classic and the current Ethereum, to switching from PoW to PoS which btw was a literal mainstream government agenda (not saying that's why they did it but just hold on, evidence based reasoning on government infiltration in Eth is coming), and now the more recent ERC721 and ERC1155 token variations.
But on top of all those developments, one of the key issues Ethereum keeps blabbering on about, and by Ethereum I of course mean Vitalik Buterin, is privacy. Yes the by now almost obsolete and feared P word.
Wow, that's great right? Yeah right.
I'm going to say it out loud straight away: Vitalik's main location is Canada. You remember Canada right? Apart from that he frequents in the EU. So if you think they arrested truckers, arrested Durov, arrested Assange and arrested Pertsev just to let our Eth boy Vitalik here create actual privacy and censorship-free features into the 2nd largest crypto in the world, you haven't been paying attention.
Now that's not to say it's all just an empty promise and Ethereum won't have these features at all. I'm saying Ethereum is the Whatsapp of crypto which basically means they will create backdoors and give US, Canada and EU governments all the keys they need to open your doors.
Want proof? The moment these "privacy" features go live Ethereum won't be delisted from Binance, Coinbase or other major exchanges. The moment these "privacy" features go live Vitalik won't be apprehended once at airports for even questioning, let alone arrest. There won't be a single sanction on Ethereum from any of the before mentioned countries, because all the examples I just gave are a direct result of those authoritarian countries oppressing crypto exchanges and developers into following their will.
But hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they are so intimidated by his dancing that they'll let it all slide just this one time.
