For years, I have grown "tomatoes" which is code for high quality cannabis. 

I have also grown actual red tomatoes! The big red ones that we would call "steak tomatoes" when I was a child. The kind you would slice up and put on your sandwiches for school lunch. I also grew a smaller strain of yellow tomatoes. The type you would see in a fancy salad. Those yellow tomatoes were especially viable and came back year after year with no replanting! They finally stopped growing recently.

I purchased two heirloom tomato strains recently. One plant of each. 

Japanese Black Trifele:

This tomato strain is actually from Russia, not Japan. The origin of the name was most likely a sales ploy. Not that the strain needs any help seeming exotic. This large, pear shaped tomato is mostly black with red fading and a green top/neck!  Not only is the yield big and colorful, but it's full of flavor. I am very excited to see how the plant I have turns out!

Mortgage Lifter:

This tomato strain has even larger yields around 1 pound each! The color is slightly pinkish. It has a strong and sweet taste for such a large tomato. This strain seems like a great staple for the garden! Such a monster tomato with good flavor would be perfect on a Burger with some blue cheese, chopped into some salsa etc. It looks like literally the perfect tomato for cooking! Very excited for this strain as well.
