Until now, the Battle Pass from Call of Duty Modern Warfare did not offer the possibility to get an advantage. But apparently this has changed now.
With Call of Duty Modern Warfare and the Battle Royale release Call of Duty Warzone from the developer Infinity Ward, the publisher Activision from California has two irons in the fire. Prior to the release of Modern Warfare in October 2019, Activision announced that there will be no "Pay to Win" model in Call of Duty Modern Warfare and that after purchasing the game you can only buy cosmetic items that have no influence on Modern Warfare. Now it seems that with a purchasable skin in Battle Pass you can have advantages in Warzone after all.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare from Activision: EBR-14 skin with advantage in Warzone
Fans of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone have now found out that with a certain EBR-14 skin you have an advantage in Call of Duty Warzone that does not appear with the normally available skins. The skin appears in the Battle Pass of Season 2. Season 3 of Modern Warfare is coming soon and fans can look forward to new maps, playlists and weapons.
The Reddit user "ChickenYug" shows with his fellow player how the weapon behaves differently depending on the skin and how it can give a one-shot kill potential to an opponent at once. The EWC is a semi-automatic long range weapon and is the choice for players who want to build up pressure on the opponent from a greater distance. Even though the Call of Duty weapon does high damage, it is not the strongest sniper rifle in the game.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare EBR-14 becomes more deadly with Battle Pass Skin
In his video ChickenYug shows that he shoots his teammate in the head with an EBR-14 with normal skin. The teammate takes damage but does not die. Now he switches to an EWC with the "Line Breaker" skin and shoots again at his teammate who has healed and equipped with new protection plates. Now one shot to the head is enough to kill the player immediately.
ChickenYug reacts somewhat shocked and says "This is Pay to Win, in short. I just rush through the games with this weapon and I've mastered all the challenges." The player also links to a posting, where the same effect can be achieved with the "Flesh Wound" skin.
Modern Warfare Battle Pass Skin effect rather bug than wanted by Activision.
Even though ChickenYug immediately assumes that this is a "Pay to Win" feature, one can pretty much safely assume that this is rather a bug of Infinity Ward, because otherwise Activision would permanently mess with the community if they did not follow their initial statements.
Therefore one can assume that this difference in the damage of the EBR-14 in Call of Duty Modern Warfare will be fixed very soon by Infinity Ward. Possibly the deadly Supply Box in Warzone will be fixed in the same move.
