The European Union has just requested the deletion of the data of the users of the worldcoin project by 19 January 2025.
The project aims to create a unique digital identity by scanning the iris of these users' eyes. Although the project may seem innovative, it is a major concern. Spain has just banned the project on its territory and asked for the deletion of these citizens' data. Germany also recently announced its concerns about the privacy of these citizens. The European Union has just taken a position and is demanding the deletion of the information recorded by the project.
The project team supported by Open IA can still avoid this sanction by complying with European privacy legislation. However, the project has only one month to do so.
