In 2024, the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund would have earned a profit of $222.4 billion, breaking its previous record in 2023.
While many countries are considering creating strategic reserves in cryptocurrencies, the Norwegian fund has already exposed itself to digital assets since the end of 2023. This risk-taking was a win. In 2024, record profits were recorded: $222.4 billion. Created in 1990, the goal of the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund is to transform profits from oil extraction into investments that will generate income when oil reserves are exhausted.

During the year 2024, the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, considered the largest in the world, multiplied investments, focusing in particular on the purchase of shares of foreign companies whose pro-crypto position is no longer to be proven. Its holdings include a 1.1% stake in Tesla and 0.72% in MicroStrategy, as well as shares in Coinbase, Metaplanet and MARA Holdings. All these companies have a strategic Bitcoin pool.
According to experts, indirect exposure reached approximately 3,821 BTC or $356 million.
