How I started investing!

How it all started:

In December 2019, I was bored and and looking up ways to make money online. Eventually, I started investing in stocks in an online brokerage. I send some money and bought some Apple, Disney and Starbucks.

My goal was to create a dividend-focused portfolio cause I enjoyed the cash flow. However, At age 18 I figured that maybe dividends wouldn't yield enough and that my time horizon is pretty long, so I started buying more growth tech stocks like Nvidia, Tesla or AMD and my portfolio grew a lot the following year.

That year, I also came across the concept of FIRE, financial independence retire early! I was inspired by blogs like earlyretirementextreme.com and mrmoneymustache.com , who showed me how this kind of lifestyle can be achieved on an average salary.

In February 2021, after being frustrated about not being able to trade during a long weekend, I figured that crypto might be an interesting way to diversify. I bought Cardano, Ethereum and Bitcoin and I still have them today!

How it's going:

These days, my portfolio is about 2/3 stocks and 1/3 crypto. Most of the money I put in comes from me being frugal, as a student I don't really have that much cash. I eat a pretty cheap, whole food diet, use my bike to get places and rarely spend money on new items. I travel frugally and still enjoy hanging out with friends tho.

Conclusion:

I think that early retirement is possible for most people and I would love to document my personal journey, thoughts I have on the topic and tips and tricks right here! So, follow me if you are interested!
