Beans

Frugality and Beans

By mijourney | frugalfi | 20 Feb 2022

One of the major ways I reduce costs and thus can save more for retirement is my diet.

I love eating healthy basics.

especially beans.

All the beans.

You can go for canned beans or dried beans, which are even cheaper.

You can eat rice and beans, bean soup, chilli sin carne, bean stew... a lot of things. Beans are cheap as hell, fill you up, are healthy protein, environmentally friendly and ( in my opinion ) super delicious!

My favourite is probably rice, beans and frozen miced veggies, which is both cheap, filling and healthy! With these kinds of basic meals, which makes up the bulk of my diet, it is important to season them properly. I like to use curry, chilli, cumin, paprika, tumerich and various herbs. I always use different beans, veggies and seasoning to keep it interesting.

Having a system for your food is important. I aways combine rice or pasta with some kind of vegetable and some kind of protein (like beans!). Having a system when it comes to food makes both shopping and cooking easy, tasty and cheap.

I highly recommend it! Do you guys like beans?
