Why didn’t you call
When you couldn’t come as planned?
Alone I was by the waterfall,
I thought you were a friend!
Sat on a rock, hoping it won’t budge,
Devoured the box of choc fudge,
I brought for our picnic;
Finished it to quell my rising panic.
Didn’t know what to do,
Had no one to turn to.
Uneasy as I was, waited for hours,
Wished you’d be on this trip of ours.
Was lost to the passing time,
Till I heard my cell phone’s chime.
Then I gave up on you,
Thought, “If only I knew!”
