A long time ago,
I treated you like gold.
By you, I was charmed,
In the end, was harmed.
Satisfied being your prisoner,
My love, like a Bunsen burner.
I relished the heat,
It made me upbeat.
Problems began unexpectedly.
Why, I don’t comprehend fully.
To you, was most devoted,
Yet our separation resulted.
I was heartbroken
After your piece was spoken.
On me you turned your back,
As I fell to my knees and begged.
