Finally, someone said the emperor has no clothes.
Because from a medical perspective there is no proven effectiveness of masks, the Cabinet has decided that there will be no national obligation for wearing non-medical masks
Now every freedom lover knows that governments do not need science to make draconian decisions about what you can and cannot do. Nice to see the Dutch government surprise me. Superstition is dangerous. Fear makes people into sheep. What's next?! Are people at wal-mart going to be required to throw salt over their shoulders before entering? Dance around a fire? Put a horseshoe in your pants?
I watched a dandelion seed dance in front of me, with hardly a breeze, for 5 minutes yesterday. Very relaxing, but all I could think about was, "If this thing that i can see can stay in the air that long, how long could a virus?" A really long time. One of the many reasons masks( and staying 6ft apart) doesn't work.
People don't use them properly.
Viruses are extremely small making cloth masks useless.
People touch their faces all day anyway.
Of course all this was know months ago, when everyone recommended against them. Governments like to appear competent, and to "do something" even when it isn't warranted. Once bureaucrats get a taste of power, they will extend that power for as long as possible, even if it means people suffer.
