If you haven’t been hiding under a rock for the last 6 months or so, you will be well aware of the rebirth of the Airdrop phenomena. For the OGs who were kicking back in 2017, the Airdrop is a familiar thing. Back then, Airdrops were at a much lesser scale and often hardly worth the effort to get 100 tokens collectively worth 59 cents that would cost $10 of ETH to sell. Complete f**king waste of time!
This time round, largely due to the resurgence of SOL and its uber low gas fees, the Airdrop has been given a new lease of life. The other major factor driving this has been the rise of ETH L2s which all set out to fix the scalability and transaction cost issue on ETH. Their chosen model to drive engagement has been the Airdrop and many of these projects have given away airdrops worth many thousands of dollars to early adopters and supporters of the protocol.
Fast forward to today and we have the announcement of the launch of Linea Surge. This campaign is aimed at increasing liquidity on the Linea network and much like the recent ETHFI liquid restaking Airdrop, users willing to lock up some ETH will be rewarded with LXP-L points and a share of the Linea Airdrop. This Airdrop is still some months away (my guess ~6 months) so there is still plenty of time to build up your points balance. The TLDR version is that I added a bit of ETH to Stargate on Linea and also to Renzo liquid restaking. I chose these two options because they give you the possibility to farm multiple airdrops at the same time and also Stargate allows you to provide liquidity through a single asset – i.e. you can just add ETH rather than a ETH/USDC pair for example.
