Machu Picchu was built in 15th century by Incas. Usually people call Machu Picchu by "The Lost City of Incas". And Machu Picchu stands 2,430m over the sea level. It was abandoned one century later when spanish discoverers came.

Machu means in Quechua language "old" or "old person".Picchu in Quechua language means "portion of coca being chewed" or "pyramid, pointed multi-sided solid; cone". But usually the specialists say that Machu Pichu means "old peak" or "old mountain"
