Liminal spaces.

In online communities, there is a creepypasta or horror story about a series of mazes consisting of endless corridors of empty spaces where one can become trapped due to a glitch in reality. These are known as Backrooms. I hope this sounds familiar to you, because I was very intrigued by the concept since I first heard about it. It's about liminal spaces that we all pass through when going from one place to another. In real life, these spaces are constantly traversed, but no one gets trapped in them... or do they?
Since I started reading about this story, I've been taking pictures of these spaces as a collection. Personally, I'm drawn to this concept because of the sense of unease they give me, but also because of the curiosity of being alone in them. They don't scare me in themselves, but they are significant because I see in this creepypasta the symbolism of a routine life where the tasks of the system are repeated over and over again, from the school corridors to those of your workplace, to those of the hospital... in an increasingly lonely society that pushes many to become trapped, just like in the Backrooms...
In these first images... the tunnels, the first from the Haedo train station, and the second from the Chascomus train... imagine going down there and when you get to the other side... not seeing the exit, but the corridor continues...

Liminal spaces also appeal to a sense of nostalgia for childhood places where there was always bustle and movement, to see them in dreams with nobody around...

For these photos, I went to a shopping mall in the western area that has almost all of its stores closed for years. It is always very sparsely populated. The area with the games (photo above) made me feel like I was in a horror movie. There wasn't a single child around, only the sounds of electronic voices from the games and the cinemas (below). I went to see a movie, and there was no one else in the theater, which is a very strange sensation.

A fast food restaurant during off-peak hours and an abandoned area of a building fit the style of liminal spaces... Another thing that entertains me is urban exploration. I took the first photo at the failed shopping mall in San Isidro, a location on the circuit of the Tren de la Costa during its inaugural moment. It promised to shine, but now it's in decline.

Lastly, an ideal liminal space, the hallway of a museum could easily be a location for the backrooms, although it looks more beautiful than scary because of the style. This photo belongs to the Dardo Rocha passage in La Plata.

That's all for my first set of photos, and I'm going to continue taking more because I love the vibe, although it's just for me. I hope it has caught your attention as much as it did for me.
