Real Madrid Take on Eintracht Frankfurt in Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Finland. These teams have only met one time in the 1960 European Cup final that Madrid won 7-3 behind a Quadruple from Puskas and a Hat-trick from di Stefano (Had them on my fantasy team back in the 60s 😁). Madrid have won 4 of their past 5 UEFA Super Cups and should feel comfortable in the fixture as will have featured in 5 of the last 9. They have retained everyone from their Champions league winning side and even added Aurélien Tchouaméni and Antonio Rudiger to add competition and depth. Madrid is yet to play a competitive match this season, but they did defeat Juventus 2-0.
Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa league in true Cinderella fashion as they managed to knock out Betis, Barcelona, West Ham, and Rangers in the final. Frankfurt don’t have a huge bankroll, but added Lucas Alario, Jens Petter Hauge, and Mario Gotze in the summer window. Eintracht Frankfurt has already played their debut match this season. A 6-1 beatdown at the hands of Bayern Munich. They were down 5-0 at halftime as well.
There are not a ton of reasons to back Frankfurt aside from the recent success against Spanish opposition and personal speculation that this match means more to them than Madrid. I love the Madrid to score over 1.5 bet as they seem to do that every match. I just cant see Frankfurt pulling this one out, but I think they will score a consolation goal.
