One of the best Derby’s in the world will resume today as Atletico host Real Madrid. Atletico sit 7th in the table with 10 points from 5 matches and Real are top of the league with a perfect start through the 5th matchday. The teams come off a contrasting champions league fixture mid week. Athletico lost 2-0 to Leverkusen and Madrid won 2-0 while hosting Leipzig.
Star man Karim Benzema will NOT play this game as he has a thigh injury. I’ve heard reports that Jon Oblak is doubtful for Atleti as well. The books see this game as being low scoring and neither team appears to be a big favorite. The last time Atletico hosted Madrid , they won 1-0. History is with Real as they have not suffered consecutive away defeats to Atletico in 45 years. Under 2.5 goals has hit in the last 6 matches. I think this will be a cagey encounter and maybe even an outright boring match. I would not be surprised with a draw, but I like Madrid to Win in a late goal.
