Crystal Palace has quietly had a nice preseason as well scoring 22 and conceding 17 against some stiff competition as Manager Patrick Viera looks to build on last season's success. West Ham and Man City on Paper seems like a tricky opening fixture for City. The citizens have allowed the departure of Jesus, Zenchencko, and Sterling to premier league rivals. However, they replaced the trio with Haaland, Kalvin-Phillips, and Alvarez. They might be upgrades down the line, but I think they will need some time to gel. West Ham are steady as the come with Moyes leading the squad. They enjoyed a sensational campaign last year and have really splashed the cash on the front and back in the transfer market. They bought Italian ST Scamacca (40m) and Moroccan CB Nayef Aquerd this window. The hammers have it where it counts and I think they will have a good season. But they will go down to the new look City in the opener. West Ham vs Man City: 0-3
Everton and Chelsea is an interesting fixture as both teams seem to be struggling. Everton almost got relegated last season and the departure of Richarlison to Tottenham definitely hurts a team that struggled to score. They did pick up James Tarkowski from relegated Burnley on a free transfer, that’s a good bit of business imo. Chelsea seems like a mess right now. They picked up Koulibaly, Gallagher and Sterling which on paper seems great. However, they let go of Rudiger, Christenson, and sent Lukaku on loan. In addition, there are so many players linked to other clubs like Zyech, Pulisic, Werner, Alonso, and Azpilicueta that you get they vibe there is unrest in the team. Who do you pick if yoou are Tuchel? Hes got a difficult job right now. I like the match to be a draw, especially with Chelsea being away.
Newcastle and Nottingham Forest! Good to see forest back in the premier league. I feel they have done some savvy business bringing in Dean Henderson on loan, Nico Williams from Liverpool, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Jesse Lingaard. Newcastle hasn’t really splashed the cash like I thought, but they have brought in some defensive reinforcements in the window. Newcastle was one of the best EPL teams in the second half of the season and I see no reason why they can't keep that going against a newly promoted side.
