We made it! It's time for the Semis in of the Women's European championships! They are playing @Sheffield in what is sure to be a capacity crowd of almost 33,000. England swept through the group stage scoring 14 and conceding 0. They met a difficult Spain in the semis, but showed some heart to gut out a 2-1 win in extra time. England will be looking to overcome their entire history of women's football. The English ladies are 2-5 all time in the semis of major tournaments, 15-3 all-time (8 draws) vs Sweden with a –27 goal differential and have NEVER beaten Sweden in a major tournament.

Sweden on the other hand only finished outside the top 3 in 2 out of the 10 Euros they have participated in. They also had an easy time making it to the Semis, with the only hiccup being a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands. They are ranked second in the world and are as consistent a side anyone in the world.

Despite all this, England are somehow favorites in this match AND to win the tournament? I get the home field advantage and England have a nice squad, but they are laying such a price @ 5/6 that I just cannot justify backing England in this match. Gimme Sweden to win in normal time @ 7/2. Juice is just too good to not give a squeeze.
