The EFL cup quarter-final showdown continues as there a good number of exciting and much-anticipated fixtures up next. Yesterday saw Aston Villa Annihilate Liverpool 5-0 at Villa Park, however, before you get all shocked, it was obvious Klopp and Liverpool weren’t interested in the EFL cup as he made changes to the entire lineup with no single senior and first-team players on the pitch and on the bench. This shows that they are clearly putting their focus in the premier league where they are clearly the heavy favorites to win it this season. Coming up later today is another EFL Cup fixture as Leicester City is set to lock horns against Everton at the Goodison Park.
Everton have found a new life under their new manager after things took a downward slope for them this season. Their win against Chelsea was a major confidence booster for them and as it stands, they look like they will be skyrocketing out of the relegation areas real soon. The good news for them is that they are still in the EFL Cup competition and they stand a huge chance of progressing into the next round at home against Leicester City who have been nothing short of superb this season. With their new-found confidence and determination, Everton stands a chance of getting the job done.
Expected formation and tactics – Everton will be expected to set up in a 4-4-2 formation. They have shown ruthlessness in their past 2 games under the new manager, beating Chelsea and getting a draw against Man United at Old Trafford. For them, they will be looking to show the same level of passion and determination the new manager has brought to the club and try to get the job done against Leicester City.
Leicester City are having a similar season they had few seasons ago they did the unthinkable by winning the premier league title against all odds. This season has been going pretty good for them and they are the closest team to Liverpool. They will be going up against Everton away at the Goodison Park and comparing both teams’ form this season, Leicester are clearly the favorites to get the job done in this fixture.
Expected formation and tactics – Leicester City will be expected to set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. They are playing away from home and will be looking to put in more effort in the game. Their gameplan will be to continue in the way they’ve been playing most times this season and try to get the job done. This post can also be found on my scorum blog
