A Solid Away Win for Arsenal Against Frankfurt as They Kick off Their Europa League Campaign with Crucial 3 Points

As usual, the Europa League campaign kicks off in the same week as the champions league. While a lot of attention is being placed on the champions league, the Europa League has also come a long way and have improved a lot over the past few years. It has improved so much that the Europa league fixtures have now become much-anticipated for a lot of fans and the much higher level in the competition has made it become really exciting.

Eintracht Frankfurt who nearly made it to the Europa League final last season have another chance of doing something great this time around in the competition. They are without their prolific striker Jovic who joined Real Madrid this summer. They have begun their campaign on a poor note, losing their opening day fixture by 3 goals to nothing against Arsenal at home. Even though they were clearly beaten by a solid Arsenal performance, there is still a long way to go and they still have time to make up for the loss in their upcoming fixtures.

Arsenal are the current Europa League runner up, losing 4-1 to Chelsea in Baku. They somehow managed to miss out of the top 4 in the premier league after being in a very good position with just few games to go and they have found themselves in yet another Europa League for another consecutive season. The gunners are one of the heavy favourites to go all the way this season and they have already kicked off their campaign with a solid 3-0 win away at Frankfurt.

Brief Post-Match Analyses

An amazing atmosphere it was at the home of Eintracht Frankfurt with lots of fans all excited for the game.

Eintracht Frankfurt setup in their preferred 3-4-1-2 formation with a front 2 of Silva and Dost, while Arsenal setup in their preferred 4-2-3-1 formation with Aubameyang leading the line. The home side began strongly, forcing attacks and pressing Arsenal in the first few minutes of the game. Eintracht Frankfurt created quite a number of chances in the game but it was Arsenal who took the lead late in the first half before scoring 2 more in the second half to seal the tie with a crucial first-leg win.

Willock scored the first goal for Arsenal in the 38th minute with a very nice finish.

Saka doubled the lead for Arsenal in the 85th minute with a superb placed shot to find the bottom left corner.

Aubemeyang wouldn’t rest without adding his name to the scoresheet, as he made it 3 in the 87th minute with a cool one-on-one finish.

A solid victory for Arsenal as they aim to go all the way in this competition. For Eintracht Frankfurt, they will be disappointed to have lost the way they did at home considering the number of chances they created in the game. This post can also be found on my scorum blog
